First evidence of vivianite in human bones from a third millennium BC Domus de Janas: Filigosa tomb 1, Macomer (NU), Sardinia

Sardinia is an island located in the middle of Mediterranean Sea. Due to its position geologically acquired Middle Miocene (around 16 Ma ago), this had a very strategic antiquity, as it was involved into all trade routes that crossed Sea; however, developed original archaeological features up Iron Age. During Final Neolithic, Ozieri’s Culture throughout Sardinian territory, with diffusion typically hypogea graves named Domus de Janas. The study conducted inside Janas at Filigosa necropolis, on tuffaceous hillside near village Macomer area Marghine, Central-Western Sardinia. Tomb 1 dating back beginning third millennium BC been excavated by Professor E. Contu 1965 At time first excavation, tomb showed particular conditions enabled excellent conservation several osteological and wooden samples. This paper focuses presence vivianite deposits human bones origin. For such mineral be formed interaction between phosphate, iron water has occur. These findings can considered evidence site, one most ancient Italy, well observed prehistoric sites related period before introduction use.
